The Scalp Guide

What is your scalp type?

Four scalp types, each with its own signs. Your scalp sets the rhythm for how often, and how gently, you cleanse.

Understanding your scalp

The scalp is skin, with more oil glands than almost anywhere else on the body. How much oil it produces is largely inherited, and it decides how quickly hair looks flat or feels heavy.

Washing too often, very hot water, cold dry air and some styling products can all unsettle the balance. Persistent flaking, itching or soreness can have medical causes and is worth showing to a dermatologist.

01

Dry scalp

Tightness or itching, most of all after washing.

Small, fine white flakes on the shoulders.

The ritual
